Dr. Avocado lends a paw

Dr. Avocado logoWelcome to the first installment of “Dr. Avocado lends a paw” where I will help you understand the complicated psyche of cats.
I know from a distance we may seem aloof, even arrogant, but a closer look shows that we want to be pampered and loved.

Dr. Avocado, do cats really need their vaccines? I mean, they are known to “cure themselves”.
Ah, we are amazing actors. Oscars should be given to us all! But let’s get something clear: cats get sick, we just don’t show it. Our survival instinct asks us to “look normal” in order to stay out of trouble. Have you heard the term “Natural Selection”? That thing is real and if a kitty appears to be sick, he is leftout of all the cool things like hunting for food and finding shelter in the colony. Sayings like “they cure themselves” are part of the bigger problem: kitties don’t visit the vet until it is too freaking late!

Don’t follow the uneducated crowd. Take your cat to the vet and make sure he or she gets vaccinated. Diseases like Feline Panleukopenia and Feline Calcivirus are lethal without it and rabies? not getting that shot is even against the law! Now, if you ask me, Dr., are cats rebels? I will definitely say YES! the type that has a very long, healthy but mysterious life.
